Location: City of Alhambra
Time: About 8:40PM
I was surfing the web. I heard that the window in my room was making noise. I felt the ground shaked for a few seconds. I shouted, “Earthquake!” and gathered all my family members in the middle of the living room. I was a relatively open area and there was nothing but the roof on top of us. Nothing happened after that.
I told my wife to grab a few important things and took my daughter out on the drive way. I drove them out to a nearby KOHL’S parking lot.
One thing we’ve learned is that we haven’t well prepared for a bigger earthquake yet. We need to get two emergency boxes ready, one for me, one for my wife.
According to the news from REUTERS,
Magnitude 5.0
Lasted 10 to 15 seconds
The quake center was about 10 miles southwest of downtown LA, near the community of Lennox.

Joe,
I don’t know how strong the earthquake was, but I also experienced a slight tremor out here in Colton, which 52.5 miles from your location. Andy
Hi Andy,
Thanks for leaving a comment.
Yes, I was closer to the earthquake center than you. Hope that didn’t wake up your dog
Good to hear that you are safe.
Joe
Hi everyone,
Interesting enough, I was reading the earthquake reports about China earthquake happened last year in the kitchen. and then I felt the earthquake.I have experienced much bigger earquakes in LA before. I don’t feel panic or scare this time. Small earthquakes don’t border me but not the 8.0 one in our area. Joe is right. We have to well prepare.I need to know how to turn off my water and electric power in case of earthquake. prepare enough water anf foods.

Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your comment.
There was an other 4.1 earthquake again this afternoon. I was in downtown LA this time. My computer screen shook back and forth a few times.
Must get my emergency staff ready tonight. Don’t wait until an 8.0 hits us.
Joe
